What Happens When We Quit?

We spend our lives working toward one goal or another, sometimes it is hard work other times it is half-hearted. The truth is, life is a series of attempts with victories and losses along the way. But what happens when we start and don't see it through?

When I was in college, I did an asinine thing. We were offered a chance out of our final (it was a physical fitness class). All that had to happen was I had to run a mile and a half in under  nine and a half minutes. The part where I failed was in preparing. I did not train, I did not prepare in any way. But in my head, I had mathematically figured out how fast I needed to finish each lap. So, I headed out and by the third lap our professor just began yelling at me to quit, I had no chance of making it... So, I did quit. I walked off of the track and continued walking with my tail between my legs.

I don't mean that kind of quitting, when I speak of quitting. Sounds silly, but hear me out.

When you have prepared, you've worked the process over and over in your head. You know that you are ready, and you have what it takes to finish the job. When you put in the work, why would you not see it through? Why would you quit? When success is possible, why would anyone walk away?

Could someone fear failure so much that they would risk losing out on a chance of victory? There have been times when I felt like quitting, but I have never quit when I saw victory close... When I could see a finish line in direct sight. No, I don't like to prepare and then quit. There is nothing worth working yourself to a frazzle over and then walking away.

So, we quit and all of our work goes for nothing. All of our preparation has been wasted. Don't waste your talents, skills, and efforts when you don't feel that in your heart of hearts you will not see things through. Hardwork in life is not something that should be wasted. Life is all about preparing to participate and pummel the enemy!

You will only ever succeed if you believe in yourself. If you push beyond any limits that you may have perceived that you have, you may find that you are worth more and able to do more than you had ever imagined!

So, the moral of the story? Hard work and believing in yourself will make you succeed or fail on your own terms!
