Accomplishing New Things Everyday

Everyday you have a brand new opportunity to do something new. Try new things that you have only thought of before, or maybe it's a new dream of something to do. They say that you are only young once, or the other one that says that you only live once. And my favorite, no rest for the wicked! Sure, aren't we young and wild from your early twenties until our late thirities?

A Way Out

As people, from time to time we get lost in our own thoughts. We wander down roads that lead to nowhere, and we continue down the tangent highways. The longer that we are alone in our minds, the more lost that we become. Coming back to your senses is a bit like a rubberband snapping back into place. Boingggg!

When the rain pours

I have sat and watched rain. I have wept in the rain; it's a good habit, not letting anyone know if it is rain or tears. I have looked to the heavens and wondered if there was ever any purpose to this life that I was given. But in thinking this, I realize that I should be thankful for what I did to get this very life.

An Understanding of What Exactly?

The lives of many people are at times upset. Why? Is it that they cannot do all of the things that are their goals in life? Is it that someone that they feel could not actually compete with them has beaten them? Is it this or is it that? We spend our lives asking question after question when things do not seem to go our way. Our existence should be more than simply wanting to always things to go our way. We should learn from our experiences. We should get better at what we, apparently, thought we were already the best at being.

Give me one reason...

When you are angry, or in a foul mood... We often look at others with the idea and hope that they will give you one reason. Just one reason to act out, to be angry, to fight. Everyone has that switch, but not too many people will access the area in their mind to really pull it out. All the anger staying pent up in them. It will boil over to rage, sooner or later, and then you can't stop it. It will be a small incident, a person asks you if they can scoot by to get a certain bag of chips off of the shelf--- and boom, the volcano will erupt.

Respect yourself enough to...

Self respect is sometimes hard to find. As a kid, I was not too great looking, overweight, wore glasses, and felt like I had to be someone that I wasn't to find friends. Packaging all that together, you find that you sort of smile and observe the world. You don't offer much.

Day in and day out...

Wake up. Get up. The day begins, and the world has expectations of you. Getting ready for work, feed the children, then feed yourself. You do it all for everyone. Is there a thank you anywhere out there? Rarely. I see the moments as they pass by. I see the inevitable; it's typically referred to as the writing on the wall.

The thoughts floating about my head

My thoughts fly about in my head, at times will keep me awake. I dread dreaming... I don't know why the dreams are bad to worse, every night and I feel at times that I might drown in the darker moments. I wake and I am tired. I feel like I have run around all night. Am I chasing a bad memory or am running toward it as I am chased down by an even more horrible dream reality? During the moments when I cannot focus, which is every waking hour, I try to find a singular item on which to focus. The problem often becomes that I appear to be staring at either a person or an object, but I am told to stop staring by my wife. The truth is, I do not think that I am staring, but I guess I look like a creep... Oh well, those are the things that fly about my head.

Day in and day out

As the days pass, you find that there will be good days and bad days. Mood and mental health have been one of my struggles through my life. A bad day is just as likely as a good when I wake in the morning. Still, I do the things that I find entertaining. The things that made me happy before this moment. And in that, I find that it's all relative as to how my day will go.

Strangely enough--

Our days are a series of actions and reactions. My dog decides to eat my shoe. What is my reaction? When I was younger, it would have ruined my day; I would choose to be angry at everyone around me. No excuses, it was a full onslaught of I'm angry and you will feel my wrath for the remainder of the day!

As the minutes pass

As the minutes before any task, revelation, or decision is about to come forth; I always found that I could not wait. I always wanted to know the decision. I needed to know. I never wanted to wait for everyone else. And, in waiting to hear if you were top dog, you had to wait through all the other names that placed, and in waiting long enough-- self-doubt swept over you. What if I get no place! What if my name is not coming up at all? That is the fear of all those who win.

Our lives, full of twists, turns, and adventures... Are all worth it.

Growing up in the seventies and eighties was an adventure. If you were sick, you spent time with your grandparents watching: The Price is Right with Bob Barker reminding us to spay and neuter our pets! Then, switching to Days of Our Lives. It was the best medicine. Not the shows, but the times spent with our grandparents. Their stories, their caring, and their love for us.

What's next?

A young man walks along a crowded sidewalk; he's lost and needs directions. The thing is, no one seems to notice him. He continues to walk aimlessly for a bit, hoping to catch someone's attention. With that not working, he finds a bench nearby and he sits. That's all, just sits and breathes in the cool morning air. Without the crowd around him, his thinking becomes much clearer. He can gather his incomplete thoughts and realizes he passed his destination only two blocks ago. He gazes at his watch, still lots of time to get where he needs to be.
